Compile errors and (incorrect) macro-virus warning

Date: May 5, 2004

We've received numerous emails the past few week from people receiving compile errors in some parts of ASAP Utilities in combination with Excel 97. Besides that some people who use Computer Associates ETrust EZ Antivirus version 6 get a warning message.

Compile errors

Most of the people that get the compile errors are using Excel 97. However on other Excel 97 machines it runs without problems. Usually this is due to a bad installation of Excel but in this case the problem lies within ASAP itsself.
I'm running some tests right now and plan to release a new version by the end of this week (approximately may 7th).

Virus alert (but of cours there isn't any)

Some people who use the eTrust virusscanner, version 6, may receive  nasty warning message: Excel97Macro/Opitz.D family virus found in system.asap.
Of course this virus is NOT in ASAP Utilities. We're very carefull. This is the only virusscanner that give the alert, but it doesn't give any information about the contents/behaviour of the macro-virus. Therefore it's difficult to see which part of the new code in ASAP Utilities triggers the alarm. At this moment it is version 6 that gives the warning, version 7 of the virusscanner, the current release, does not give the incorrect warning anymore.
I suppose it's the new function "Macro/VBA information"; This utilty has the capability of deleting your code procedure by procedure. It also contains an option to export your VBA code.
