New version: August 29, 2006

A new version of ASAP Utilities is available:
4.0.3 (August 29, 2006).

Major reason for this release are a few bugfixes, two new worksheet functions and an expanded description of the utilities.

  • New worksheet function: =ASAPExtractNumbers(ref)
This function extracts the numbers from a given range or value.
  • New worksheet function: =ASAPStripNumbers(ref)
This function strips the numbers from a given range or value.
  • a few bug fixes in the following utilities:
. Apply formula to selected cells...
    . Convert dates...
. Export selection or active sheet as new file...
  • a few small bugfixes and typing errors.

Thank you all for the feedback!

ASAP Utilities is great tool and I use it for long time and advise it everyone who I know. But I can not install new version becouse I haven´t administrator´s rights!

I HATE this new feature!!!

Bastien

Hello Pvav,

Only during the installation you need Administrator of Power Users rights. When the installation is finished every user on the computer is able to use ASAP Utilities.

HELP!!!

I was previously using version 3.10c, but yesterday I installed the new version.

I've just attempted to reset the last cell by pressing Ctrl+Alt+R and it's destroyed my menus and toolbars.

All the customised toolbars with buttons linked to macros have disappeared!!

I still have the macros as they were in my personal workbook, but none of the toolbars exist anymore!

Hello Neil,

Are you sure you didn't accidentally press Control+Alt+B. Because that command will reset/rebuild the menu.

You can see in your favorites menu which shortcuts perform which actions.
By default it is the following:

I wondered if I'd press the wrong key so I tried again, and the same thing happened.

Also, whenever I try to activate the Filesize toolbar, Excel crashes.

Bastien

Hello Neil,

I have checked your settings and everything looks fine. I can't reproduce the problem. One think I can think of that might cause problems, partly because the filesize toolbar doesn't work either is a corrupt or bloated toolbar file. A *normal* size is

Thanks for a new version of asap. I have o little problem with the function with inserting a number (character) to the beginning or the end. The previous version didn't change the formatting but the new version automatically changes everything to text with adding an apostrophe to the beginning. So, by my opinion it was better when I have entered e.g. a number to a number and it stayed a number, because now I must do a second step a change the text to a number

I would just like to say, this tool has changed the way I work with Excel forever. Truly wonderful that you made this free. Keep up the good work, and keep those releases coming!

Hello Many,

You're right. Can you try the new version and tell me if this works as expected?

Hello Bastien,
Thanks for the quick repair, now it works fine. I would suggest a little improvement – if it is possible to add a feature that ASAP would remember the setting and the last inserted values in dialogs. Because sometimes it takes too much time to set the dialog and in the next opening all values are lost and must be set again.

Bastien

Hello Many,

Good idea, I will update this utility so that it will remember your
last used settings.

And what can I do, when I haven´t got any Administrator of Power Users rights? I haven´t got this problem when I used last versions – e.g. 3.10c.

Bastien

Hello Pvav,

You can use a special version that will work with Excel 97 and doesn't require administrator or power user rights:
